My kids have not been able to STOP playing at this site since we discovered it!
This site encourages your child to read more books by rewarding them with real-live gifts. Once your child registers, they can take quizzes on all the books they have read and receive points. Once they have banked up a bunch of points, then they can order from the prize library.
It is really a great way to foster enthusiasm for reading. Already, my kids have earned free books, e-books and a 6 month subscription to Highlights magazine.
Have fun…. www.bookadventure.org
I am the world’s worst about being organizational MINDED but rarely getting around to organizing my stuff. I used to have recipes printed out or scribbled out and tucked all over the kitchen…. but NO MORE!
A couple years ago, I fell in love with the Cook’n recipe organizer software and now I’m a true convert. The software is not tough to learn and has pretty much all the features a gal could want. They offer lots of cookbooks you can buy to add-in to the program and it is cookbook names you will recognize and maybe have in your kitchen (those big heavy things).
Of course, you can add in your own recipes too which has been invaluable to me. I’ve added in all the family heirloom recipes for safe keeping.
You can keep a list of your favorite recipes to refer to … you can make your meal plans and automated grocery lists too! This is REALLY one of my most favorite tools I own!

If you do much traveling - especially in big cities or internationally, these travel bags are PERFECT! Currently living in a 3rd World Country - big city, I use these every day. They are extra secure to prevent the snatch-and-grab theft. They have tons of pockets for organizing all your travel documents. The material is easy to clean.
These purses are great especially for moms because we have to carry all the stuff the whole family might need. With all the pockets and pouches in these bags, you can keep stuff organized and easy to find.

As my daughter is entering that tween phase of life where everything is CHANGING, we have found a FABULOUS series of books just for her to help understand and cope with this phase.
Nancy Rue has a series of books that deal with all these pre-teen issues. We first found her through the Body book which helps explain what in the world is going on. It turns out there are tons more books that have the quizzes and charts that girls love. The tone of these books make the girls feel they are hanging out with a friend. The books are all from a Christian perspective too!
I highly recommend these books for steering your girls through this phase of life.

Okay, you’ve set up the computer and braved the Internet. Now come the questions. How do I get rid of that annoying password for Windows? I want to vaccinate my pc against viruses-I hear they are pretty bad. So how do I beat the bug? What the heck is defragging (sounds illegal) and why do I want to do it anyway? I got an email message that said to avoid (fill in the blank) restaurant because some guy was drugged in the restroom there and someone stole his kidneys. Is this a hoax?
All the above questions as well as many others have answers and they can be found at Help2go.com. This site is almost entirely free to use. (You’ll have to pay if you contact a live person for a computer problem.) There are plenty of answers that are free to visitors though.
Do you want to attach a file with an email? Do you want to learn to cut and paste in Windows? These are all areas I had questions about when new to computers. It is great to be able to find easy to understand answers in one place AND they are labeled for Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. You can also sign up for a free newsletter that offers tips and tidbits related to computers and the net. This site is perfect for those new to the net and for those curious folks that want to expand their pc knowledge. Until next time.
Amazingmoms.com is really an amazing site. I know, it sounds so cliché but I loved it. It is colorful, easy to navigate and chock full of ideas to help you have fun as a family. The Site Index on the left side of the homepage offers many tempting links starting with the Birthday Parties page. Themed parties galore here with a description of what the theme should include. Ideas for crafts, cool cakes, party favors and games are included in each section. If you choose a theme but are not sure of where to find the necessary supplies, a link to a party supply website is available. (Gee, no surprise THERE.)
The Family Fun link offers some great ideas to encourage more family time. It is so important for kids to feel that they belong. I really liked the suggestion of taking a walk and flipping the coin at each corner to see which way to turn. It allows your child an opportunity to make a decision and it’s a great way to make your adult self more spontaneous and flexible. Truly a chance to “stop and smell the roses.”
The large selection of Holiday tips include some nice Fathers Day information. There is just too much cool stuff here. Needless to say, you just have to visit the site. Until next time.
Remember being a kid and hearing, “Clean your plate. There are kids starving in China”? And of course you ate- stuffing yourself on food you didn’t want that never even helped that child. Now you can pass up the peas and feel good about helping a REAL child somewhere. Hungersite is a corporately sponsored website that donates food each time you click. You pay nothing and are allowed one serving (click) per day. The Corporate sponsors foot the bill. At this time, the total servings donated (just since June 1999) are in excess of 106 million. Wow!
The Hungersite has partnered with some retail websites to further increase their humanitarian effort. For each dollar you spend, one cup of food will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme. You can also purchase a t-shirt with the Hungersite logo on it and another 25 cups of grain will be given to help lessen hunger.
You CAN make a difference. This is a great way to teach your child a lesson in compassion. You can even make this your homepage. Until next time.
Before I get started, this site is not just for preschoolers. There are tons of links to other sites for K-6th graders, adoptive families, home schoolers and fathers. With that said…though I don’t have a preschooler anymore (sniff) I can really appreciate the effort that went into this stellar site. What first caught my eye and my heart was the page entitled Smart Babies. Now c’mon, we all know that our children are smart, don’t we? I just love that someone finally acknowledged that for all of us… The page had some great articles on the subject.
We can’t forget the Pre School aged children. Their page features some wonderful tips on increasing knowledge as well. There are several other pages that help parents who want to give their child that extra boost before school formally starts. The web host didn’t forget Moms and thoughtfully provided them a series of articles as well.
You can send a friend an e-greeting and sign up for monthly newsletters. And as I mentioned before, the links provided here are phenomenal. As your child grows, you can check out the related links. What I really appreciated is that the articles are well written and the site is easy to navigate. Until next time.
